DIZZY BUSY !

As this is my weekend to work before my trip to North Carolina with my granddaughter, today was my day off this week. So translated, that means it was my day to be sure to get all of Mother's chores and errands done before I leave town. Whew! The day started with my laundry, then picking her up at 10:00 for a nail appointment. Two hours for that. Bath and Body Works shopping for gifts. The car wash. The dry cleaners. We saved the best for last........Wal-Mart.
By the time I got her back home this afternoon (about 2:30) I was exhausted. I cannot keep up with an 80 year old woman! There's a problem here.

Had a solitary dinner consisting of the roast I put on to cook early this morning. Then off again with my best friend Gwen to a Caregivers Support Group meeting.
That was an interesting experience, to say the least. I've never been to any support group before and didn't really know what to expect. I truly thought it might just be everyone sitting around patting each other on the back. Oh no! Everyone there had a different situation and were dealing with them the best they knew how. Some were offered constructive advice and ideas were tossed around that room all evening. Such interaction with a great group of people! There was a particular lady there who seemed to really NEED the opportunity to talk to someone. Her husband is only 60 and has undergone a myriad of health problems. He is in a nursing home right now undergoing PT and she doesn't know what the long-term prognosis is. Financial matters are another great concern for her. Anyway, I will be praying for her AND for her husband. It suddenly made MY problems with Mother seem very insignificant.

its always nice to be reminded that many people struggle with care giving, and thats not just about one particular scenario. So thanks!
